1. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) provides an international standard of education.
The IBDP is an educational program for high school students provided through the IB headquarters in Geneva. There are currently around 4,600 IBDP schools globally. Students who receive an IB diploma are capable of entering universities around the world, thanks to the DP’s internationally recognized standards. In addition, the Ministry of Sports, Education, and Technology (MEXT), as part of its stronger position in promoting an internationalized education, is a strong proponent of the IB. Even among Japanese universities, the number of those recognizing the IB diploma is expected to continue rising.
2. The IBDP brings 21st century skills into the classroom
The IBDP is a 2 year program in the 2nd and 3rd years of high school, and offers the following advantages:
- The opportunity to not only learn language, but use multiple languages in the classroom across subjects.
- The ability to learn and use cutting-edge technology both in the classroom and in projects and research.
- Learning lifelong skills that are vital not only for the classroom but for life beyond academia, including analytical skills, critical thinking skills, thesis development and writing, and presentation skills.
- Becoming part of the worldwide IBDP network, meaning access to study abroad opportunities and cultural exchange with many of the 4,600 IB schools worldwide.
- The chance to take responsibility for your own education, including choosing from a selection of core subjects, creating and completing your own research and experiments, and participating in the growth and direction of the classroom curriculum.
